THE LOCATION
An Alberta National Park Wedding Surrounded by Forest and Water
Elk Island National Park was a natural fit for Victoria and Brian’s wedding. With their love for the outdoors, the forest paths, open grass, quiet water, and late-summer landscape gave the day a peaceful setting that felt personal to who they are.
Instead of a traditional venue, their ceremony unfolded in the open air, with immediate family gathered close and nature all around them. The day also began at Sandman Signature Sherwood Park Hotel, giving them a comfortable getting-ready location before travelling into the park. Together, the two locations created a wedding story that felt simple, personal, and beautifully grounded in the Sherwood Park and Elk Island area.

A Quiet Wedding Story at Elk Island National Park

OUR APPROACH
Calm, Documentary-Inspired Wedding Photography
Small weddings deserve the same care, attention, and storytelling as full wedding days. Victoria and Brian’s celebration was intimate, but it still held so many important pieces — getting ready, family connections, a first look, a quiet ceremony, portraits, movement, and the in-between moments that made the day feel real.
Our approach is calm, observant, and gently guided. We give direction when it helps, especially for portraits and family photos, but we also leave space for the natural moments to unfold. At Elk Island National Park, that meant paying attention not only to the people, but also to the setting — the forest, the water, the tall grass, and the quiet outdoor feeling that mattered so much to them.
For couples planning an intimate wedding, elopement-style ceremony, or small family celebration near Edmonton or Sherwood Park, thoughtful photography matters. The goal is not to make the day feel bigger than it was — it is to photograph it honestly, beautifully, and with care.
